I hope you all are having a great week. The weather here in Boston has been pretty cold and yucky lately, which I realize more and more has an effect on my mood. I feel like I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately with some personal things bumming me out and the weather just does not help combat that.
So, that gave me the idea for this post! When I’m not feeling great about something in my life I try to look for things that I know will induce laughter and joy. Here are a few of my favorites…
Ridiculous Lola and dog pics
As you all know, Lola brings me more happiness than almost anything (yes, even running and iced coffee). Lola hung out with Auntie Kate this week and she sent me some pretty hilarious photos of Lola and Louie.
I love little goofy posts online. This one from The Oatmeal was pretty cute and also a good reminder that no one is perfect, so being happy with our own progress and selves is the ultimate goal 🙂
I love to listen to podcasts and here personal stories from other people, especially runners. The Runner’s Connect Run to the Top Podcast with elite runner Tina Muir is my current favorite. She just posted a great interview with Ultrarunner Stephanie Marie Howe that was a great look at nutrition for runners.
A good hard workout is especially important when I’m not feeling 100% emotionally. Tonight’s spin class was one of those! I always feel inspired by the people that show up to my class ready to sweat!
Quality time with friends
This is a biggie! I am so fortunate to have a great network of friends, who enjoy everything from a girl’s trip to a quiet night at home. Our book club is meeting tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to a little intellectual discussion mixed with some good wine and amazing ladies.
